Better late then Never

I haven't posted on my blog for a little while but I have been trying to post as much as possible on my Etsy, in some cases just re-listing things I have sold.

And YES! I have had some sales, which makes this so worth it this time around.

The picture at left is the newest design I've added to my etsy, bookmarks with a cute flower motif. I also have stickers and magnets for this design, and they are all hand colored instead of printed.

As for etsy!

Today I got a new toy in my email. My Taste Test actually came out pretty acurate to my tastes... eclectic, artsy, interesting, and full of textures and color. That is my taste all over.

Take your own taste test and see how close it is to you!

Goblins and Teeth

I've uploaded a goblin bookmark. It is an older one, but I have always thought it was a cute goblin.

Speaking of cute things, AmerissaG has some very interesting polymer clay items. You should definitely give her a look.

Dino's and Art

I have created the most adorable dinosaurs. I have them up on my etsy as stickers at the moment, but will probably put up some magnets and other items soon as they are just cute.

And I thought since I'm always showing my own artwork on here I should really show someone else's today.

ArtworkSW has the most amazing and intricate drawings. Well worth the look.

I like that you can look at them for a while and still see new things in every angle.

Pictureless

Today I decided not to included pictures for a very simple reason. The items I found on Etsy are not child friendly, so if you want to see them you can click the link.

Suffice it to say... etsy has a very active and steamy underbelly.

I got curious one day as a friend of mine had been talking about the "make your own dildo" kit, and decided to see if any enterprising people had used Etsy for this particular function.... I was not disappointed! In fact, I was astonished how many creative, interesting, and well crafted items they had available.

Beginning with glass dildos made of the best and easiest cleaning pyrex, to hand crafted leather harnesses, and the best leather paddles and chokers. What kinky sex room wouldn't be complete with out a feather tickler?

I found it absolutely amazing the wide range of items available on a site dedicated to hand crafted items. Even more amazing when you realize you can talk directly to the artisan who created it and order something to your exact specifications, down to what color you want the leather on your riding crop. Adam and Eve can't do that for ya!

Sticker Set and Upcycles

It's finally here, a whole robot sticker set. Mainly because I've heard a few people asking for it.

Plus, since I sell each individual sticker for $1 each, and these ten for $8, you're saving $2, and shipping costs.

I'm showing a couple shops today, the theme being upcycle.
It is amazing how many people on Etsy can take things other people might throw away and make useful, interesting, crazy, or beautiful items for you to use, wear, play with or enjoy.
These two have caught my eye.

Hippie Kingdom who creates jewelry from recycled paper, and gets very interesting, and pretty results from simple newsprint as well as other types of paper. And it's eco friendly as well.

Bottle Hood who makes glasses and other items from discarded bottles. Want your very own Corona glasses? They have them. How about Absolute Vodka? They have those too!

They recycle bottles from local restaurants, and events around San Diego, and are making useful items out of something that might have been thrown in a landfill.

Pottery Angels

This is an older bookmark that I am uploading today. I am working on new fairies at the moment, and trying to do another watercolor (I need water color paper first I think).

So instead I'll just jump right to the sharing of other peoples items.

Maid Of Clay has taken the vampire craze and run with it. Can't blame her, and she has such cute mugs. I am so tempted to buy one myself!

Finished the fairy. It took all of two hours to complete, all while I sat watching a sci-fi show on netflix.

I really love the way this fairy turned out. The background is pretty good to, but her face and that corset really worked out.

Today's cuteness is "Hello Wars".

What do you get when you cross Star Wars and Hello Kitty? You just have to go look at the shop! It is so worth it! Darth V Kitty is just so cutely evil!

Fairies and Robots

I have added a Robot Charm today.

I also painted a fairy (which will be added to the shop eventually).

This is the first watercolor I've done in years, and I am not quite finished with it. However, it is far more finished then anything else I've done in quite some time, with a background and everything. Hopefully I'll be doing a few more watercolors like this as it actually worked out well.

Touring through etsy I found this charming little shop. French Market Stitch.

Ever since coming to Washington, and Seattle, I've been fascinated by the burlesque scene, and corsets. Of course I love the ones in this shop.

It has been suggested that I put in sets so that people can pick and choose... so in that line here is my first set. Robots!

I believe my second set will be fairies. I'm working on them at the moment. After that... Dragons? Mermaids? Any suggestions?

The third thing I like about Etsy is that you can find some of the most amazing artisan crafts, things you could not find in, say, walmart. You have to go to someone who will make it custom for you, and thus we have Merimask who does leather masks, a true artisan craft.

The Wonderful Thing About Etsy

Two great things about Etsy, of the thuosand or so that there are.

1. All natural products, be they beauty products that are completely new, never seen before, or organic food which is just a healthier version of something you've already seen.

2. People who use their shop to raise money for non profits even if it is for a month or two.

Etsy is a community, not just a business, and that's the true fun of it.

As for my own post of the day, I added a ladybug charm.

I believe I have some fairies to draw now.

Photo's and Butterflies

I am rather proud of that photo. It was a complete accident, and yet it looks wonderful.

It is a piece of black plastic laying on my kitchen counter, and the image of a sunflower poster I have on the wall is reflecting in it. With the charm laying on top of that it actually looks quite nice. I think I'll be doing all of my charms this way.

Today I am sharing Real Butterfly Gifts though they have more then butterflies in their collection.

Not only are their products beautiful and an interesting conversation piece, the insects are also helping people and the environment. As quoted from their listing: "All of the real Butterflies and insects used in our framed shadowbox butterfly art have been raised on natural cruelty free tropical farms around the world. These educational farms, aviaries and co-ops provide a real source of income for native people who would otherwise have to sell trees off of their land or raise cattle which are both ecologically disastrous. Tropical insects are important members of these fragile ecosystems. If their natural habitats are allowed to disappear, then they to will vanish forever. Everything possible must be done to preserve them."

Bugs and Fairies

Etsy is on the frits this morning so I am going to forgo posting this morning and do it later tonight.

I did upload a skull magnet yesterday.

However, I have been working on several new fairy designs. Mostly old designs that were never finished, but I have good reason to do so now. I will be posting a set of 4 robot, and another set of three fairy magnets later today.

Vulva Love Lovely is my shareing for the day. She has the most unusual shop I have ever seen.... piriod!

If you need a breast pillow with instructions on how to do a self breast exam, or a custom vulva portrait (you just have to see it to believe it) then you really should check out her shop.

Been a while

I skipped two days in posting due to life getting a little busy, but I will be posting two more tonight to make up for that laps.

I asked some people what they thought my shop needed more of, and they said three things: Angels, Fairies, and Packs. So I'm working on the fairy drawings at the moment. I had some, but may were not cleaned up, colored, and ready to go. Thus... lots of work.

So, today is a day for a Halloween sticker set.

I want to share dead goth girl purse today as it is very Halloween appropriate, and I just think it's pretty darn awesome in general.

Yuna

I liked Final Fantasy X better then X2, but I did find the mascot outfits quite cute, so I had to draw them. I finally found a way of using the pictures and created some magnets.

This was a new experiment as I haven't used this laminate before, but it seems to have worked wonderfully.

When setting up my own magnet I looked around for some others and discovered Artagglomeration shop with alphabet magnets.

Remember playing with those little plastic numbers and letters when you were little? I think a lot of them have been removed from the market because the magnets are a "choking hazard", which is silly. However, these are just an adorable take on the older concept, and soft to the touch. Much nicer for little fingers to hold and play with.

Halloween is Near

Today's post is another charm, meant for Halloween. A chibi mummy. It is my favorite of the Halloween drawings so far, and actually what started it.

Also, I finally got my first sales. It just thrilled me! I can't wait to send it off in the morning.

Today's Etsy item is a pair of robot stitch markers which I'd probably use as a charm from my cell, or clothes or something since I don't knit or crochet.

They come from Crafty Gamer Girl. I absolutely love her name, and she has a night elf on her banner. (My first WoW char is a night elf hunter.)

Check out her notebooks and other charm/stitch markers.

Charming

I've finally used my drawings on some shrink plastic and made some charms. It went pretty well, and, after doing two sheets, I learned a few things about it so I think the next sheet will go perfect.

I've been poking around in the Etsy forums, meeting some new people and trying to catch up with others that are in my area (Seattle). It's slow going.

Today I'd also like to share Euphoria Doria who makes the absolute cutest jewelry out of little toys and such that you might find discarded at a yardsale. Worth the look. She has a real eye for cuteness.

Robots and Coral

Today I posted a cute little robot bookmark. I enjoyed making them, they are quite fun to draw, and people on etsy seem to like robots.

Today the subject of etsy blog is "Too Precious to Wear" and the plight of the coral reefs, and how popular coral jewelry has become. It is a very interesting read, and I can agree with the fact that coral should not be needlessly harvested for pretty bobbles like pendants and charms.

On the posting side, I've decided I am going to have to make at least seven items on my days off so that I have something to post daily, otherwise I'll fall behind too easily.

I have also decided to give this three months. If I can't find my "niche" by then and actually get enough sales to cover the posting fee then this is just not a good way to spend my time. It also means I will have to start finding ways of promoting or I'm not doing enough to make this work and I have no one to blame but me.

Day 1

The first item I put up in Fantastic Creations happens to be from my daughter. A cute little anime dragon costume sticker.

It was a lot of fun coloring her drawing. She does such cute work, and it is perfect for the Halloween season.

I also wanted to feature someone else's items.

I logged into Etsy one day to find this unusual wedding cake topper on the front page. It's so adorable, you can't help but love it.

Start of something new

A while ago I watched Julie and Julia, based off the interesting blog of a woman making all the dished from the Julia Child's cookbook.

I've been thinking of a way to do something similar, to challenge myself to do something I have wanted to do, and keep doing it. So often I've given up, thinking the goal too far out of reach, or hopeless.

So, the question became "what should I do?" Write a novel? Paint a picture? What?

I decided to join this project with my Etsy, Fantastic Creations, as that is also something that I have been wanting to work on. Etsy, my little artistic shop, creative outlet, and Starbucks money. Also a way of teaching my daughter, who wants to be an artist as well, what it takes as I learn it as well.

An Etsy a day. One listing every single day for the next... year? Can I go that far? I suppose if I am really determined I will.

I do know, however, that I will have to learn some new tricks, and tips in order to actually sell on Etsy, not just post stuff needlessly. Perhaps that will be a good thing as well.
